Infant Adoption

Why choose Adoption Associates ?

Common Questions About Infant Adoption

How long will it take to adopt?

Most families are placed with an infant within 12 months.

What is a home study?

A home study is an assessment of a couple who want to adopt a child. The written home study report is a summary of this assessment. A home study is required by Michigan licensing and the county court that processes adoptions.

When will the baby be placed in our home?

Babies are placed into adoptive family homes directly from the hospital under temporary placement prior to the termination of parental rights. We provide all legal services needed through adoption finalization.

Can the biological parents come back to take a child?

Adoption is a permanent plan. After birth parents voluntarily release their parental rights, a judge issues a formal signed Order to terminate those rights. Then the judge issues an Order to place the child with the adoptive family. Those Orders are permanent. Adoption Associates files all of the legal paperwork and monitors the process closely.

What fees are involved in an infant adoption?
  • We offer competitive low fees for adoptive families; much lower than the national average.
  • No large upfront costs – fees are paid as services are rendered.
  • All-inclusive fees that do not expire.
  • Fees include personal services by an experienced caseworker, home study services, adoption professional services, profile and matching services, legal services and outreach and education.

Are you linked to an expectant parent and need adoption services?

Adoption Associates provides comprehensive adoption services to adoptive families and birth mothers who are already linked.

You can be assured that the birth mother will receive the support and resources she needs from our experienced caseworkers. With our provision of all-inclusive adoption services, there is no need to hire an attorney, consultant, or facilitator. We will take care of every detail.

Are you looking only for infant adoption placement services?

Adoption Associates provides placement services nationwide. You will first complete a home study with a local agency.

A caseworker will be assigned to your case. Personal services will be provided to you throughout the adoption process. Your profile will be professionally created for you through ParentFinder.com. They have an app that makes it easy! Once complete, your profile will be featured on our website and nationally on ParentFinder.com.

After you’re linked to a birth mother and the baby has been born, we will provide all of the legal services needed to complete the adoption.

Advantages for Adoptive Parents in Working with an Agency

  • Our infant adoption program opened in 1990, and since that time we’ve been helping pregnant women who are planning adoption find permanent families for their children.
  • We’ve assisted with thousands of adoptions of infants, and we can help you if you’ve already identified and established a relationship with an expectant parent.
  • Many expectant parents are interested in developing a relationship with the adoptive family before their baby is born. We support all types of adoption; open adoption, semi open adoption, closed adoption, and safe delivery.  Specifics of the adoption are based on the desires of expectant parents and adoptive families. We carefully work with expectant parents and adoptive parents to identify their preferences.
