Birth parents make a loving parenting decision when they make an adoption plan. The experience gives children and birth parents a fresh start.
What Adoption Planning IS:
You give your baby the family environment you choose.
Your baby is loved and cared for by adoptive parents.
You make a life-giving choice for your baby.
Experienced, professional adoption counselors will care for you and support you through every step of the process.
You receive support with the related challenges of life.
What Adoption Planning is NOT:
It’s not turning your baby over to protective services or sending the baby to foster care.
You’re not giving your baby away because you don’t care.
You won’t lose all contact with your baby if you choose open adoption.
You aren’t forced to stay involved with your baby.
It’s not meant to make you forget your baby.
You won’t put your baby at greater risk for psychological problems.
You won’t put yourself at greater risk for emotional problems.
Making an adoption plan means you DO care! You want something good for your baby when you’re not able to provide it yourself. As C.S. Lewis stated, “Love is unselfishly choosing for another’s highest good.”
