Why Choose Adoption?

Planning adoption isn’t about a your ability to parent; it’s about timing. You might choose to make an adoption plan because you:

  • realize that it’s not the right time in your life to take on the responsibility of a baby.
  • have other children and do not have the resources to raise another child.
  • do not have the time to effectively provide for the child’s needs because of work or school.
  • want your child to be provided with opportunities they might not otherwise have.

Why Choose Adoption Associates?

Already Parenting?

Many of the birth mothers we serve are already parenting at least one child. We understand that adding one more child at this point could reduce the quality of life for the children you already have. Adoption provides your baby with a loving and bright future while allowing you to focus on the needs of your children at home.

Financial Assistance

Adoption costs you absolutely nothing. We may be able to help with necessary living and medical expenses. Your caseworker will provide you with information specific to your situation and help you with resources. Financial assistance is legal and available in Michigan, but may not be available for all birth mothers, and is not legal in some states.

Legal Process

We take care of all legal requirements for the adoption. After the baby is born, we will provide legal documents that will allow you to release your parental rights. Your caseworker will be there with you in a private setting as you sign the documents. Paperwork is then filed with the court. After the legal process has been completed, the child will become a permanent member of the adoptive family.

For Birth Fathers

Birth fathers who support adoption understand that being a parent means ensuring all of his child’s emotional, social, physical, and financial needs are met. An adoption plan can assure you that these needs will be met. We provide all necessary adoption and legal services to birth fathers.

The Adoptive Family

You can choose a family for your baby from the parents screened by our staff, or you may choose someone who has been recommended to you by someone you trust. If you wish, you can get to know the adoptive parents during your pregnancy.

You can choose to continue contact with the family after the placement. A caseworker will help you make an adoption plan you feel is best; open adoption, semi-open adoption or closed adoption.
